Deeside scaffolding giant NSG sees turnover spike by 10% to £18m

Deeside scaffolding giant NSG is announcing strong sales growth of 10pc in 2010 to £18m following a management buyout in May.

The Deeside based company - the ninth largest scaffolding business in the UK - has won and retained a raft of major clients over the past 12 months and grown staff numbers to more than 450.

Contracts secured include a three-year deal in Speke with global pharmaceutical firm Lilly, construction works for Vinci at Whiston Hospital, and a £65million bio-energy facility being built by drinks giant Diageo in Fife, Scotland

Managing Director Michael Carr said that despite the recession hitting the construction and property sector, NSG had maintained a strong position.

"This has been a dynamic year for us and despite the rough waters, we have continued to increase turnover, win clients and grow the NSG brand," he said. "We have maintained growth in the construction and engineering sectors while expanding into the rail, social housing, marine and off-shore, and oil and gas sectors. We also see the resurgent nuclear industry as a key market for NSG and we are always looking at ways to expand our portfolio.

Mr Carr said the business has achieved growth through diversification and acquisition, extending its services to include painting, blasting, thermal insulation and building repairs. It had been acquired by MWB in February 2008 but was purchased back in a management buyout in May last year.

"NSG has been in existence, under various guises, for the past 40 years and it is testimony to our credibility and performance that over that time we have built solid relationships with illustrious clients such as Ineos Chlor Vinyls, Ineos Enterprises, Centrica, Corus, Cammell Laird, Lilly and many of the major Construction companies such as Laing O'Rourke, Balfour Beatty, Shepherd Construction." he said. "Our business relies on results and NSG has the ability to offer a diverse range of services to meet the needs of all clients, from scaffolding erection and maintenance, all painting services, high pressure water jetting, brickwork, thermal insulation and asbestos removal.

"The management team and all our staff deserve credit for their resilience and we are looking forward to 2011 with vigour."
